Employee Feedback Study

A large multi-national company came to us with a challenge. They needed
to have an employee feedback study performed for one division in their company. The problem was that this division of about 600 people was spread across two continents, with three languages spoken, and a varied level of computer literacy. At the same time, our client required that all of the data
be gathered accurately, confidentially and professionally.

The purpose of this study was to determine four key pieces of information about the department:

  • The overall climate of the division
  • Specific areas of systemic concern across the division
  • Specific departments with concerns within the division
  • Specific incident areas that cause the concerns within departments

We prepared a survey program that utilized both an Internet and a paper questionnaire. Both platforms were required because many of the workers were field workers and did not have Internet access to complete an on-line questionnaire. In addition, we also provided the questionnaire in three
different languages: Italian, Spanish and English. This allowed participants
to complete the questionnaire in their native or preferred language.

All questionnaires probed the same areas and asked for responses to 73 different questions. Since all of the responses were sent directly to our office, we were able to ensure complete confidentiality with all responses.

When the data collection was completed, we translated all comments back
to English and prepared the final report for our client.

The final result was the identification of two departments that were having significant issues within their employee base. For each of those departments we were able to identify the depth of the issue as well as the source. Furthermore, we were able to identify three systemic or common issues
that were impacting all divisions to some degree.

The final result is that the division was able to address the employee issues that were causing productivity problems within the division. Furthermore,
since the information was so well defined, they knew that the resolution
they put in place would make a difference and resolve the problems.
